There’s just something about the end of year that makes you glance back and reflect on what has happened throughout the year. There were blessings and there were rough patches. But that’s just life. We embrace the blessings and we find our way through the rough patches. As you reflect back on your 2024, I hope that you find that your blessings outnumber the bad things.
Here are a few highlights from my 2024!
January: My mom and I took a return trip to Savannah. We were there in Jan 2023 for a business retreat and wanted to go back to see a few things that we didn’t have time to do. This time we spent a week in Savannah. We did some tours, went to Tybee Beach, ate lots of great food and just had a wonderful trip. We did a couple of ghost tours with Enocha Edenfield Tours that were unbelievably cool! If you’re thinking of going to Savannah, check out my friend Kimberli’s guidebook. Oh and if you’re looking for a handy travel backpack, this one has been perfect through 4 trips! Big enough to fit what I need. Small enough to fit under the airplane seat.
February: I got new walking shoes in February. After asking for recommendations on my Facebook page, I ordered some Hokas. They have been awesome! I love the roomy toe box and stability of the wide soles. I walk on a pretty rough dirt road, and these have held up nicely. I’m getting close to 700 miles on them, so will probably be ordering a new pair soon.
March: March was a little rough! I got “food poisoning” and was sick for days.🤢 I’ve only been that sick one other time in my life…and I hope to never be that sick again. But we did have some baby owls born at the very end of March! There were 3 born. Only 2 made it.
April: April brought a little more travel. This was a short flight to DFW and a long Uber ride to McKinney TX. My flight landed at rush hour and I literally spent as much time in the Uber as I did the airplane!😆 I spent a long weekend with my Frequense family. I toured the both facilities, learned about all the ingredients that go into the products, and hung out with friends. I also got to meet up with a dear friend that lives in TX. She is an amazing chainmaille artist, and she brought me some beautiful jewelry to wear!😍🥰
May & June: These were quiet months. Although, June was busy with wheat harvest!
July: July was rough. I was looking forward to celebrating my 55th birthday. But Mother Nature brewed up a wicked hail storm that wiped out our entire corn crop. Talk about depressing.😖 My spa trip with my bestie was canceled due to a death in her family. Normally, I celebrate my birthday for the entire month. But I was ready to for this July to go away.
August: Another quiet month without much going on.
September: With the corn crop hailed out, we were able to get away to see the Fall Colors in Colorado! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but it’s usually the busiest time on the farm. Everything was absolutely beautiful! The pics don’t do it justice.
October: Thankfully, we did have a milo crop to harvest! That was the focus of October. Not super exciting, but very grateful!
November: Late Thanksgiving…it always messes me up. I started Christmas shopping fairly early in the month. Then we skipped off to Colorado for the week of Thanksgiving. I always find peace and quiet there. It’s definitely my Happy Place!
December: And all wrapped up with the whirlwind of December: Christmas shopping, end of year farm business/tax prep, cooking/baking, wrapping🤪. The busy-ness seems all consuming, then how quickly it’s over! I’m always grateful for the quiet after the chaos! Thankful for my magic shroom juice to keep my brain firing on all cylinders!
I wish you many blessings, much happiness, and good health in the new year to come!
