Brrrrr!!! It’s been COLD here in Kansas this week! I mean, COLD!🥶🥶🥶 We have about one.more.day of this, then we start to warm up quickly. Now I want to be super clear with you: I do not hate winter! In fact, I actually love winter! BUT, this kind of winter is a little extreme and when it’s 3 days in a row…well, I can start to get a little cranky.
Let’s be honest, I love being outside. I love getting sunlight on my skin and in my eyes. I love walking my dogs outside, down my little dirt road. I love to walk barefoot out in the grass. BUT, I’m not a big fan of summer. There. I said it. Sorry. It’s just too hot. I only get to enjoy my outside time early in the morning or late in the evening. And I’ll happily take those. But I want more moderate temps!
I started a reset on my eating and moving my body last week. And week 1 went great! So I was a little worried about handling my reset through the cold snap. I asked my FB Community for some tips on what they do when it’s too cold to exercise outside. I took some of those tips and tweaked them! While I have ONE.MORE.DAY of this cold snap, I’ve actually enjoyed my inside work out routine!
So if YOU are stuck inside because of the cold (or heat), snow, wind, etc…let me share MY Inside Work Out Routine!
First of all, yes. I have a dang treadmill.🙄 I really do NOT enjoy it. I don’t know why. It’s totally mental. I can physically do it with no problem at all. It’s just talking myself onto the darn thing that’s the problem. I try to watch a Netflix show, listen to an engaging podcast (give Joe Rogan interviewing David Goggins a listen), or listen to my fave music.
One friend recommended some walking videos to help get my steps in. So I went searching on YouTube and some really fun ones! These are PERFECT for me, because it’s all music and NO TALKING! Sometimes those Chatty Cathys can really be a turn off for me! These are sooo fun! I’m quite surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed them. I’ve linked the 2 I’ve tried below, but there are a BUNCH of them! I definitely plan to try more.
This one is all done to ABBA from the Mama Mia soundtrack!
And this one is set to 80’s tunes!
Besides the treadmill and the walking videos linked above, I added a new piece to my stairs. I’ve been doing 10 stair sets after my walks since January. So to add a few more steps during this cold, I would go down the stairs, walk to the far end of the basement, come back to the stairs, then up! A total of 10 times. The lap across the basement didn’t really do much more than add steps, but that’s what I was looking for! (I also did my normal 10 stair laps after I got off the treadmill.🥵)
I have also gotten back into my little weights routine. I do it twice a week, for now. It’s 20 minutes. You use little weights as heavy or as light as you want! Here are the ones I use. They are adjustable, which is really handy! For now, this is the video that I’m doing for my weights. She also has a bunch of other videos. But this is the only one I’ve tried.
The moral of the story is that it is sooo important to keep moving our body…even when the weather/circumstances are less than ideal. So find SOMETHING to do! I have actually enjoyed my Cold Weather Workout Routine this week. But yeah, I can’t wait to get back outside this weekend!
Another cold weather self care tip: MOISTURIZE!!! Oh my gosh, the winter air is sooo drying to our skin! I have a little Winter Duo that has been helping my skin so much. Daily Grind Body Scrub and Fresh Creamy Milk Body Butter. I use the scrub in the shower (which does not leave a greasy film behind) to exfoliate off the dead skin. Then follow with Fresh Creamy Milk body butter when I get out. It’s so thick and creamy and deeply moisturizing! And it smells amazing! You can find both of these products (along with other great items) on my Perfectly Posh website.
And these two products above…they are the cornerstone of my self care. These 2 products keep me from spinning out, give me the energy and motivation I need to keep moving forward, take away the brain fog, help me get better sleep, improve my gut health, and just help me feel so much better overall. I loved these so much that I signed up as an affiliate when Frequense was still in beta-testing! And the super cool thing is that this past weekend Frequense officially launched at a huge event in Orlando FL! For right now, YOU can get your own affiliate link for only $1! This offer expires on Friday, 2/21, so make sure you sign up asap!
If all of that is a little overwhelming, and you’re just thinking “Gee Christy, I’d like to try these awesome products for a few days before I jump right in”, then let me send you a 5 Day Experience! Fill out THIS FORM, and I’ll get back to you asap!
Drop me a comment and let me know if you try any of these cold weather workout tips! Or if you have any questions at all!
