On March 16, my husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary! I’m still trying to figure out how 30 years ago in mid-March, we flew to Vegas, got married, then flew to St. Thomas for our honeymoon, and finally came back home.
Because getting this farmer off the farm in March NOW? Not happening!
So I planned out this trip to Savannah for January. I booked the flights. I booked the hotel. I booked a ghost tour. I had the days planned out. And then…Mother Nature stepped in to wreak havoc on Savannah in the form of a freak ice/snow storm!

Much stress and many tears later, the trip was RE-booked for 2 weeks later, pushing us into February. Which actually turned out to be perfect! We had mostly sunshine and 75-80 degreee days the whole time we were there. The flights were all on time and went off without a hitch!
We arrived at JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District just in time for check in. The staff couldn’t have been more hospitable and helpful! Everything was simply amazing! I mean, how many hotel lobbies have dinosaurs in them?!
We were taken to our room immediately, and it went beyond all of my expectations…which were admittedly pretty high! We had the most perfect river view!

We unpacked and rested for a bit, then headed out for some yummy food at one of my favorite places: Treylor Park on Bay Street. We ate too much and drank a little and had a wonderful time taking in our surroundings!
THIS is what I looked forward to every morning: yoga with a river view!
On our first full day, we decided to take the hop on/off trolley from Old Town Trolley Tours. This was my hubby’s first time in Savannah, so I wanted him to get some history and an overall view of the Historic District.
I always enjoy the trolley and love getting to hear all the history. It’s also fun to hear the different spin that each trolley driver has while sharing. I highly recommend doing the trolley tour all the way around, then you can hop off/on during your next round.
Before I finish out our trip, I want to share some of my favorite travel items with you:
- This vest is super light weight, easy to roll up and tuck into your travel bag taking up almost no space at all! It adds a nice layer of warmth when you need it and practically disappears when you don’t need it!
- We all know what a mess chargers and cords can be when traveling. This case has made it a breeze to keep everything in one place and organized!
- I absolutely LOVE this backpack for my carry-on! Everything I need fits with room to spare (which means I can add stuff in when I travel back home)!
- I bought these new shoes for this trip. Loved them! No sore feet! No regrets!
- And finally, you just have to try my FAVE mascara! This stuff is dirt cheap and totally AMAZING!
Let’s see…on Thursday, we did the Prohibition Museum. Really interesting history in here! I highly recommend taking the time to go through it. Be sure to watch the video while there. And don’t forget to try one of their delicious cocktails!
We had lunch down on River Street, while strolling. That evening we took a ghost tour with Enocha Edenfield. My mom and I have gone on tours with Enocha a few times, and I definitely wanted to include it again for this trip! Be sure to check her out on IG! Great history! Entertaining! Not too scary! (While you’re on IG, check out Cobblestones&Moss for some great content and grab her guidebook!)

Thankfully we had our Rise + Source every day to keep our tummys healthy and our energy high! (Click for $5 off!)
On our last full day in Savannah, we treated ourselves to a fabulous massage in the hotel spa, Poseidon Spa. It was amazing…just like everything else in the Plant Riverside District! That afternoon, we wandered over to the Graveface Museum. I’m not sure it’s everyone’s cup of tea…but we knew a little about it and found it very interesting. We spent the evening at Savannah Tequila Company, sipping yummy drinks, snacking on great food, and watching the HUGE ships pass by! You would not believe how many containier ships I have in my photo gallery! I’m fascinated by them!
This Savannah trip was different from the times I’ve been there with mom. Much less walking! And the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District had sooooo much to offer that we spent A LOT of time (and eating) in that area! It was absolutely the PERFECT choice for our 3oth Anniversary! It was hard to say good-bye!
If you ever have the chance to visit Savannah, I highly recommend it! There is something for everyone there!
Oh!!! I almost forgot!!! You DEFINITELY have to visit Leopolds and get some ice cream! It’s a Savannah MUST-DO!
